I'm Suyogya Shukla, a Staff Support Engineer at WordPress VIP (the enterprise division of Automattic), where I help run some of the most complex, high-traffic WordPress sites on the planet. I've been in the WordPress ecosystem for over nine years — and it all started when I was 12, in 6th grade, teaching myself HTML and CSS.

I grew up in a middle-class family in Kanpur. My parents never imposed rigid career expectations, which gave me room to follow my instincts. I stumbled onto WordPress early, started freelancing as a teenager, and never looked back. By 18 I was working professionally — building themes, supporting users, figuring out how the web actually works under the hood.

Before VIP, I spent years at Automattic — from Happiness Engineer to Senior Product Support & CX Engineer, with a stint in management. The throughline is always the same: I like helping people get the most out of the products they use.

Away from the support queue, I'm usually deep in a side project, reading about aviation, or being thoroughly out-negotiated by my two rescue dogs, Mayo and Mione. Aviation is a lifelong rabbit hole — I'll happily explain why a flight's delayed long after you've stopped listening. The rest of my downtime splits between doomscrolling Reddit well past any reasonable hour and vibecoding half-formed ideas into something that actually runs, mostly just to see if they will. Most never ship — but shipping the few that do still gives me the same kick it did at 12.
